ANGER has been expressed at the ‘millions spent on unionist areas of Portadown while north Lurgan has suffered decades of non-investment’.

That is the claim made by Sinn Fein’s Liam Mackle who has called for action to tackle the alleged ‘disparity’. “A lack of focus by a unionist-dominated council has denied North Lurgan proper and adequate community provision,” he said. “Council’s failure to provide investment in a community with high levels of deprivation is a disgrace. There must be a focus on development if we are to address decades of underinvestment. It’s time we had a fair deal for North Lurgan.”
