John Paul Ward (34), Castleview, Gilford, was fined £250 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for preventing the meter from recording at Moyraverty Court. He was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy. The court heard that on July 29 last year police searched, under warrant, the defendant’s home address at the time for drugs. During the search police officers discovered that a magnet had been placed on the side of the electricity meter. When interviewed Ward made a full admission to the offence. Ward did not appear in court and was convicted in his absence.
