A Ballymena man appeared at Coleraine Magistrates Court on Monday in connection with a stabbing incident at a bar in the Harryville area at the weekend.

The charges follow an incident in the Moat Bar on Henry Street during the early hours of Saturday during which a 32-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were stabbed. Neither sustained non-life threatening injuries. Kurtis Mitchell (21) of Queen Street, Ballymena, faces five charges including that on October 10 he maliciously wounded a man and a woman with intent to do them grievous bodily injury.

He is also charged with having an offensive weapon - a knife - at The Moat Bar. He is further charged with making a threat to kill the man and with possession of drugs - cannabis and Lyrica. The accused was remanded in custody to appear at Ballymena Magistrates Court on Thursday.
