Tragedy prompts warning
Lisburn and Castlereagh PSNI Chief Inspector John Wilson said: “Quads and scramblers do not comply with Construction and Use regulations and Vehicle Safety Standards and therefore are restricted to ‘off-road’ use only.
“These vehicles should only be driven on private land where the landowner has given permission and should not be driven on pavements, roads, public property or parks.
“The law is quite clear; any vehicle used in public places should have lights, number plates, should be insured and taxed and the driver/rider must have a driving licence.”
