The Braid men then found their line and length and won 4 of the next 5 ends to reduce the deficit to only a single shot, but they could not maintain this run of form as the home rink went on to win by 19 shots to 12.
On rink 3 Joe Kyle, Dessie Shaw, Alan McCombe and John Greer were drawn against T Watson and this time it was the men from Ballymena who had the better of the opening exchanges to lead by 9 shots after 7 ends.
The remainder of the game was a tense affair as the home rink chipped away at the Ballymena lead but the visitors were able to hold on for a hard fought 17-13 victory.
