Larne rider Scott Swann was competing in his first race outside Ireland when he lined up for round one of the British Junior Cup race on Saturday.

The 13-year-old reigning Irish production 125 rider qualified his Team 109 KTM in fifth and finished seventh in his opening race.

In Sunday’s eight-lap race he was just edged out for fifth by Jack Nixon on the final lap.

“I went to Silverstone looking for a top-10 finish, so to come home with a sixth and seventh is just brilliant.

“In race two I should have got fifth but I didn’t realise that it was the last lap when Jack passed me. I’ll learn from that mistake.”

He added: “I’m over the moon and can’t wait for the next round. Thanks to everyone who helped me this weekend. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
